Our unique Discovery Centre is part museum and part lecture theatre, offering an interactive experience where you can learn about the wildlife, history and people of the Serengeti. Situated in the Lodge’s main building, the Centre’s focal point is an interactive map of the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, which highlights the movements of the Great Migration. You’re welcome to explore on your own time or with the assistance of one of our local guides, who will happily lead you through the exhibits.

- Enjoy watching some of the best African wildlife documentaries in the comfort of the cinema-style lecture theatre, which also boasts an extensive reference library. For keen photographers, the fully equipped photographic exhibition space provides camera-cleaning gear and an iMac with image processing software with which you can review, back up and edit your photographs.
- Assist with Wildlife Research
- As one of the least-disturbed and best-studied areas in Africa, the Serengeti has provided researchers much of what is known today about East African wildlife. The Discovery Centre works with several wildlife-research projects to promote their work to our guests and to help them collect data.
- Cheetah Watch
- Guests can submit their photographs of cheetahs to help the Serengeti Cheetah Project monitor cheetahs in the Serengeti. Each cheetah bears its own unique spot pattern, and researchers can use guests’ photos to identify individual cheetahs and record their movements around the Serengeti.
- Snapshot Serengeti
- Guests can help The Serengeti Lion Project classify the different animals found in images caught by more than 200 remote-camera traps that have been set up in the Serengeti by visiting the Snapshot Serengeti website.
