The vision for this legendary Mallorca resort began in the 1920s, when Argentinian art patron Adan Diehl fell in love with the magical beauty of the Cap de Formentor. He dreamt of creating a gathering place for artists, writers and dignitaries – a place dedicated to respect for nature and the glorification of culture. The architecture was influenced by modernist design, creating a simple “white line in the landscape.” Opened in 1929, Hotel Formentor quickly attracted the world’s greatest personalities – among them the Dalai Lama, Winston Churchill, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Plácido Domingo – who came in search of creativity and inspiration. Landmark cultural events established it as a forum for debate and reflection.
