At Four Seasons Hotel Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa, we are committed to preserving and regenerating the environment and leaving a positive, enduring impact on our local community. - EarthCheck Silver certified, recognizing our drive towards positive environmental outcomes through its sustainability initiatives
- Eco-friendly electric buggies used for staff and guest transportation
- Linens and towels replaced every third day, unless otherwise requested
- Energy-saving building systems, including LED lights across the Resort, and timer-based garden lights and swimming room pumps
- Reverse osmosis plant saves up to 40% of energy consumption for water filtration
- Elimination of single-use plastics from guest rooms, including water bottles and bathroom amenities
- Collaboration with Parley since 2016 to recycle leftover plastic into sportswear
- Glass rebottling program that eliminates up to 250,000 plastic bottles annually
- Local, sustainable and seasonal menu items available
- Food waste reduction program in place
- Local biodiversity support program in place, including a pioneering partnership with Reefscapers leading to the deployment of approximately 3,500 coral frames in the waters around Kuda Huraa, protecting the existing reef and creating new ones
- On-site government-licensed turtle hatchling pools protect weak juvenile turtles in collaboration with the Local Island Outreach Education Project
- Collaboration with Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru to rehabilitate injured sea turtles and rehome non-releasable turtles to forever homes via the Flying Turtles project
- Local outreach program for neighbouring schools in collaboration with the Marine Discovery Centre to expand awareness of marine conservation efforts and activities
- Over 700 young Maldivians have graduated from the government-accredited Four Seasons Resorts Maldives Hospitality Apprenticeship program, equipped with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to succeed in the hospitality industry
- Our Resort is the largest single customer of lacquerware artists from Thulaadhoo – the Maldives’ last remaining lacquerware artisans – via on-site showcases and resort shop sales
- Bodu Beru (big drum) troupes and talented Maldivian women painters featured at our Resort
- Employees volunteer in the local community and run beach cleanups at neighbouring and remote islands
- Employees complete annual Human Trafficking Awareness training
- Eco-certified cleaning products used
- Active engagement of vendors and stakeholders to prioritize eco-friendly packaging solutions and locally sourced, fair-trade and environmentally friendly products
