A shopping and dining destination from our Concierge
“One of my favourite places to spend a sunny afternoon is Abbot Kinney, an amazing mile-long boulevard in Venice filled with eclectic fashion boutiques such as Scotch & Soda, creative design studios such as Grow Venice, artisan food shops such as Salt & Straw and laid-back California cuisine restaurants such as Gjelina. The boulevard is just a few blocks from Venice beach, which has the colourful Boardwalk, Recreation Center and Pier. This area is unique to LA and unlike any other part of the city, so it is a must-see for any first-time guests.”
Where our Concierge Takes a Surf Day Out
“One of my many favourite ways to spend a day in LA is to have a surf day, starting off at Cora’s Coffee Shoppe for a hearty breakfast. After a five-minute walk to the Santa Monica beach, I recommend checking in with long-time surf professionals, Learn to Surf, for a lesson or board rental. Afterwards, change into something slightly upscale but still beach ready, then head to Terrazzo at the Casa Del Mar hotel for an elevated lunch over epic views. If you still have energy, hit Abbey Kinney Blvd. in Venice for a shopping day at Aviator Nation.”
A Trendy Shopping Find from our Concierge
“I love to spend weekends in Larchmont Village, a shopping district outside LA that’s located in the trendy Hancock Park neighbourhood. Every Sunday, Larchmont has a fabulous farmers market supplied by local and organic vendors, and shares the same street as LA’s oldest independent bookstore, Chevalier’s Books. The village has many restaurants to choose from – from Italian at Vernetti and vegan by Cafe Gratitude to Japanese at Kiku Sushi. I usually end my day with a cone at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams or an espresso at Groundwork Coffee. Larchmont lends a cosy small-town feel inside the big city of LA.”
