At Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon, we are committed to preserving and regenerating the environment and leaving a positive, enduring impact on our local community. - Linens and towels replaced every third day, unless otherwise requested
- Large amenities program: removed single plastic use amenities from rooms and switched to larger amenities from a sustainable Portuguese brand, Oliófora
- Green Key certified hotel by the Blue Flag Association for the Environment and Education (ABAAE) since 2024
- Participation in the HOSPES program of the Portuguese Hotels Association (AHP), which promotes social responsibility and environmental sustainability initiatives
- Electric vehicles (EV) available for guest transfers, and EV charging stations available for guest use
- Bicycles available for guests through external partners
- Vegan and vegetarian menu items available
- Energy-efficient guest room controls and building systems
- Excess heat from refrigeration is recovered and channelled to heat the swimming pool
- Energy partially sourced from renewable or carbon-free sources
- LED lights throughout all guest rooms and corridors
- Water-efficient landscaping, including smart irrigation controls and the use of drip irrigation
- Elimination of single-use plastic, including water bottles, bathroom amenities, straws, cups, lids, cutlery, food containers and keycards
- Recycling program in place
- Organic waste diverted from landfill and composted at an external facility
- Nespresso coffee ground recycling program in place, contributing to the Reciclar e Alimentar program, where the grounds are reintegrated into 100% organic compost used to enrich rice fields. The rice produced is then purchased by Nespresso and donated to a food bank
- Reusable/recyclable coasters used in all outlets
- Damaged linens and towels are upcycled to reduce waste to landfill
- Water-refilling stations available throughout the Spa and Fitness Centre
- Local, sustainable and seasonal menu items available at Michelin-starred restaurant CURA, which supports small, local and sustainability-focused artisan farmers
- Whole cage-free eggs
- Endangered species banned from all menus
- Responsibly sourced seafood available
- Selection of teas and coffees ensured by suppliers committed to sustainable and responsible practices
- Food waste reduction program in place
- All takeaway packaging is 100% compostable and biodegradable, made of natural fibers derived from sugarcase processing waste
- Linen-less tables at Michelin-starred restaurant CURA and Ritz Bar
- Guests can engage in educational tours at local natural, cultural, historic or heritage sites to learn more about the local community, including exploring a variety of UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as the Monastery of the Hieronymites and the Tower of Belém, or the Cultural Landscape of Sintra-Cascais
- Local artists’ and artisans’ works are featured throughout our Hotel, showcasing a significant collection of mid-20th-century Portuguese art, including paintings, sculptures and tapestries
- Excess food donated daily to the local community since 2012 through our partnership with the DariAcordar Association
- Linens and other items donated to the local community through our affiliation with HOSPES program by AHP, including duvets, pillows and hangers
- Employees complete annual Human Trafficking Awareness training
- Focus on partnering with sustainable suppliers for hotel purchasing and products
- Suppliers are encouraged to reduce unnecessary packaging
- Bulk purchasing preferred for increased transportation efficiency
- Eco-certified cleaning products in use
- Spa products are vegan, cruelty-free and primarily sourced from Portugal-based businesses and/or those with certified sustainable credentials
- The retail boutique in the Spa exclusively features handbags, jewellery and swimsuits from Portuguese brands
- Paper and wooden guest keycards procured from Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certified sustainable sources
