Full-Day Excursions
Mu Ko Angthong National Park consists of 42 jewel-like islands. The larger islands – Phaluai Island, Wua Chio Island, Wua Talap Island and Mae Ko Islan – have unique geological features that set them apart. Covered with dense tropical vegetation and named for their distinct features, many of their names are descriptive, translating into English phrases such as “Sleeping Cow Island” or “Three Pillar Island.”
Explore the area’s many caves, hidden lagoons and white-sand beaches, or go kayaking and snorkelling among the shallow coral gardens for an adventure-filled, rewarding day trip. All the islands within the archipelago are clustered, making for breathtaking panoramic views when you’re aboard the yacht.
Koh Mae (“Mother Island”) is a favourite destination for many adventure seekers. An emerald-coloured seawater lake within the island is flanked on all sides by steep limestone cliffs and may be accessed only by an underground tunnel that connects to the sea. Reaching the lake entails a short climb of about 10 minutes, but you’ll be rewarded with a spectacular view that encompasses the entire park.
Located 45 kilometres (28 miles) north of Koh Samui, Koh Tao Island comprises 21 square kilometres (8 square miles) of rocks and coconut trees, surrounded by picturesque shallow waters. Its coastline appears quite dramatic when viewed from aboard the yacht as you sail around the island. Fringed by miles of Thailand’s most pristine coral reefs, this seascape allows you to swim among schools of brightly hued reef fish and catch sight of large, deep-water marine life, including manta rays and whale sharks. Koh Tao Island is rated among the best diving and snorkelling spots in the Gulf of Thailand.
Koh Phangan is the largest of Koh Samui’s neighbouring islands, with an area of 168 square kilometres (65 square miles). The island has numerous white-sand beaches and secluded bays along its coastline, some of them reachable only by boat. Over three-quarters of the island is mountainous tropical forest, and much of the island is classified as a national park, which is why the island retains its natural, untamed beauty. Nearby Koh Ma has some wonderful snorkelling sites, where you can jump into the water and view soft coral, and a multitude of tropical marine life. Our expert marine guides can assist you in exploring the reef.
Visit the most scenic beaches and islands around Koh Samui. In the south, cruise around the Five Islands. At Koh Tan and Koh Mudsum, snorkel at some of the best-preserved coral reefs in Koh Samui. Koh Tan is a few hundred metres off the southwestern coast of Koh Samui from Taling Nam fishing village. It’s a small, largely unspoiled island known for its coral and marine life. Giant clams, fan corals and a wide variety of fish live in and around these protected reefs.
