Resting on the Kona-Kohala coastline, Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is an unobtrusive oasis. The diversity and size of the island of Hawaii sometimes makes it difficult to decide where your “must-see” destinations are, but our team can guide you to Hawaii Island’s treasures from mauka (mountain) to makai (sea).

Where our Cultural Ambassador Dines on His Day Off

– Uncle Earl Kamakaonaona Regidor, Cultural Ambassador

“On special occasions, I like to dine at Umeke's in Kona. The restaurant features a delicious Pacific Rim-inspired menu, and I order their signature Local Ahi Poke Bowl. The fish is unbelievably fresh and delivered by local fishermen directly from the nearby harbour. To quench your thirst, Umeke’s features an assortment of beer on tap including locally brewed Kona Brewing Co., which I recommend ordering in one of their ice-cold schooner glasses.”

Our Director of Club Operations' Favourite Aloha Wear

– Alessandro Cartumini, Director of Club Operations

“Sig Zane is my favourite local designer and a true artist. Zane’s designs are created and sold from his storefront in Hilo with a quality comparable to any internationally renowned high-couture figure. Each unique, seasonally released print tells a story of Hawaii. I can always find something to pique both my fashion and cultural interest.”

Where our People and Culture Team Hikes the Trails

– Ashley Poland, Assistant Director of People and Culture

“Pololu Valley is located on the northernmost point of the island, where the trailhead begins at a clifftop overlook then descends into the valley. Oftentimes I will enjoy the black sand beach at the bottom of the trail, or if I feel ambitious, I'll continue to the next overlook and gaze into Honokane Valley. After the hike, I always end up at Sushi Rock in Hawi for my favourite non-traditional sushi.”

Beach Insights from Our Suite Experience Manager

– Hulu Kanda, Suite Experience Manager

“My absolute favourite beach on the island is Manini’owali Beach, known as Kua Bay to locals. From sunbathing to bodysurfing, this beach has it all. If you arrive early enough in the morning you have a good chance of seeing a dolphin pod pass by, or in the winter season, a humpback whale.”

A Treasured Hawaii Island Event From Our Beach Tree Server

– Laurentiu Grigore, Beach Tree Restaurant Server

“October is the month our island welcomes the IRONMAN™ World Championships. The feeling around Kona is one of extreme excitement budding from the common love of endurance sports. The presence of this race has inspired me personally to race triathlons and many other members of our Hualalai ohana as well.”
