When you visit our website www.fourseasons.com and other Four Seasons websites that display this Cookie Notice (“Site(s)”) we automatically collect information you provide to us or information about your visit to our Sites through  “cookies” to help manage your interactions with our Sites.

A cookie is a small data file that tracks an individual user’s preferences and information regarding current and past visits to our Sites, and is capable of enhancing a user’s visit. We may also use third-party partners or technology to automatically collect information about the use of our Sites or Four Seasons Mobile App (“App”), through cookies and other technologies including beacons, pixels, embedded scripts, mobile SDKs, and location-identifying technologies or similar tools.

We use cookies and other technologies necessary for authentication and security purposes. We also use optional cookies to provide personalized content and to better understand how our Sites are used.

Cookies allow us to provide a customized experience without you having to remind us of your preferences each time you visit our Sites.

Cookies may allow us to log your session so that we may better assist you should you need some individualized service or support. Once you enter personal information on the Sites, we associate certain cookies with your session information so we can recognize you on a future visit.

We use the information collected through cookies and other technologies to recognize new or returning Site visitors, to serve behavioural advertising, to record and monitor your interactions with our Sites and App over time, including your browsing activity and interaction with certain features (such as chat and video available on our Sites and App). We collect this information to better understand the interests of our Site and App visitors and to improve your online experience. Information collected automatically through these tools may be combined with other personal information we collect from you or receive from other sources.

To find out more about how Four Seasons and our third-party partners use your personal information, please see our Privacy Notice.

1.    What are the categories of cookies placed on your device while you are browsing our Sites/App and what are their purposes?

We use cookies for different purposes. The list below explains the types of cookies and other technologies set by us or our third-party partners and why we use them. Note that Strictly Necessary, Functional and Performance cookies and other technologies do not gather any information about you that is used for targeted advertising or advertising measurement purposes, including tracking your browsing history across other websites, services or applications.

Strictly Necessary

These cookies and other technologies are strictly necessary to allow us to operate our Sites, online services or interactive applications. If you do block them through your browser settings, we cannot guarantee how our Sites, App, online services or interactive applications will perform for you.

Functional

We use these cookies and other technologies to honor choices you have made on how you would like our Sites and the App to function when you access them. For example, we use Functional cookies to remember personal information such as your language preference to make your experience more convenient and personal.

These cookies and other technologies are not strictly necessary, but can enhance your experience.

Performance

We use these cookies and other technologies to, among other things, improve and update the Sites and App. For example, these technologies are used to analyse how customers interact with our Sites and App, maintain and operate our Sites and App, and collect and maintain aggregate Site and App data (such as the number of visitors to a particular webpage), which helps us see which areas are popular with our users and which are not.

We may use cookies and other technologies set by third-party partners for these purposes.

In addition, we use Performance cookies and other technologies to obtain information from communications you receive from Four Seasons, including whether you opened or forwarded an email or clicked on any of its contents. This tells us about our communications’ effectiveness and helps us deliver information that you find interesting.

These cookies and other technologies are not strictly necessary.

Targeting

These cookies and other technologies may be set through our Sites by Four Seasons or our third-party advertising partners. These may be used by our advertising partners to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertisements on other websites or mobile services (including applications). If you elect not to allow these cookies and other technologies you will experience less behavioural advertising (see “How Does Four Seasons Use Third Party Advertising and Online Behavioural Advertising” for additional information).

These cookies and other technologies are not strictly necessary. These cookies and other technologies are not used in our App, including when users enter a web view through our App.

Social Media

These cookies, widgets, pixels and other technologies are set by a range of social media services that we have added to our Sites to enable you to share our content with your friends and social media networks, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and others. Your interactions with those features are governed by the privacy policies of those companies. These cookies and technologies are capable of building a profile regarding your interests, which may impact the content and advertising messages you see on other websites and mobile services (including applications) that you visit or use. If you do not allow these cookies and other technologies you may not be able to use or see these sharing tools.
These cookies and other technologies are not strictly necessary. These cookies and other technologies are not used in our App, including when users enter a web view through our App.

2.    How does Four Seasons use Third-Party Advertising and Online Behavioural Advertising?

You may be provided with advertisements regarding Four Seasons, including our properties and products, on third-party websites and mobile services based on your online behaviour.

We may place cookies, pixels or similar technologies on our Sites that send data directly to our advertising network partners. Our advertising network partners may also place and use such technologies on other third-party websites to collect information about your activities across websites over time in order to provide you with online advertisements that are based on your interests, as well as to provide advertising-related services such as reporting, attribution and market research. This is known as online behavioural advertising, or “OBA”. See the “To Opt-Out of Online Behavioural Advertising” section below to learn how you may opt-out.

Third Party Partners

The following is a sample of the third-party partners we work with to provide analytics, online advertising and other services. Our partners change over time and this section is not intended to be comprehensive. You may learn more about these third-party providers by clicking on the links below. Please note that these links are provided for your convenience only and we do not control the content or features that may be available on these third-party services. You may use the Cookie Preferences link found at the bottom of our Site to limit the collection of data by these partners on our Site.

Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to recognize you and link the devices you use when you visit our Sites on your browser or mobile device to better understand how you interact with us. We may also utilize certain forms of display advertising and other advanced features through Google Analytics, such as Remarketing with Google Analytics and Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting. These features enable us to use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick advertising cookie) or other third-party cookies together to inform, optimize, and display advertisements based on your past visits to our Sites and App. You may control your advertising preferences or opt-out of certain Google advertising products by visiting the Google Ads Preferences Manager, currently available at https://google.com/ads/preferences. For information on how Google Analytics collects and processes data, as well as how you can control information sent to Google, review Google’s site “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services” located at www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/.

You can learn about Google Analytics’ currently available opt-outs, including the Google Analytics Browser Add-On here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout/.

3.    How do you accept or refuse cookies?

General Procedure

A cookie banner pops up during your first visit to the Sites, or when accessing your web browser through our App. This cookie banner enables you to select your preferences related to cookies. You can elect to access the Cookie Preferences link found at the bottom of our Site to set up your choices in terms of consent (i.e. you can individually select which cookie categories you wish to accept as long as they are not strictly necessary).

We will store your preferences, whether consent or refusal of cookies, for up to 12 months (unless you clear cookies from your browser). Once this period expires, the cookie banner will pop up again for you to set up your preferences again. You can adjust the cookie settings at any time via the Cookie Preferences link, which is available through the link on the bottom of the Site.

To Opt-Out of Online Behavioural Advertising

To limit or opt-out of the use of personal information for OBA purposes, please use the Cookie Preferences link found at the bottom of our Site and adjust your preferences or visit our website with a legally recognized global preferences signal such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC) enabled. Please note that this opt-out is specific to each browser or mobile device, so if you would like to change your preferences on multiple browsers or mobile devices you must perform the opt-out on each browser or device.

Additionally, when a Four Seasons online behavioural advertisement is delivered to you, you will see an “Ad Choices” icon. Clicking on the icon or link will take you to a website where you can manage or opt-out of the use of data about your browsing history that is used for the delivery of online behavioural advertising.

If you opt-out, you may still see advertisements online, including advertisements from Four Seasons that are based on other information (e.g., based on the content of the page being viewed rather than your prior web-browsing activity).

To learn more about other choices that advertisers provide generally for individuals to influence how information about their online activities over time and across third-party websites or online services is collected and used, visit:

•    the Network Advertising Initiative at http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp;
•    the Digital Advertising Alliance at http://www.aboutads.info/; or
•    the European Digital Advertising Alliance at http://youronlinechoices.eu/.

Please note that some of these opt-outs may not be effective unless your browser is set to accept cookies. You must perform the opt-out on each browser or device you use.  If you delete cookies, change your browser settings or switch browsers or devices, you may need to opt-out again.

Alternative Option to Manage your Cookie Settings (through the browser settings)

If you do not want to accept cookies and other technologies, you may be able to block cookies through your browser settings. Please note that because this is a setting on your browser, this adjustment may also block cookies for any website you visit. You can visit www.aboutcookies.org, which provides detailed information on managing cookies in popular browsers.

Blocking cookies may affect your ability to benefit from the conveniences afforded by the use of cookies, may affect your ability to use certain customization features associated with creating a user profile, and, in the case of cookies that are strictly necessary for the website to operate properly, may affect your experience of the website.
